DEX Trades Count

The number of individual trades on decentralized exchanges in the analyzed window. A measure of activity breadth.

DEX trades count is how many distinct swap transactions were executed on decentralized exchanges in a given time window. It works as an activity counter that complements volume: two markets with the same USD turnover can have completely different structure. One is driven by thousands of small retail trades, the other by a few large orders. A high trade count alongside large volume reflects broad, healthy interest in on-chain trading; few trades producing large volume points to dominance by bigger-capital players. Always read this parameter together with total volume and the protocol breakdown, as they give the trade count its context. A sustained rise in both volume and trade count confirms a genuine DeFi pickup rather than a momentary impulse from a single entity.

In plain words

Counts how many separate trades happened on DeFi exchanges. Many small ones = broad retail trading; few large ones = bigger players at work.

Example

1.1M DEX trades against $2.4B in volume is broad, retail activity. The same volume across only a few thousand trades would point to a handful of very large orders.
