Crypto Wallet

App or device storing private keys to manage crypto.

Wallet doesn't store crypto (lives on blockchain) stores private keys controlling addresses. Types: hot (MetaMask convenient, hackable), cold (Ledger, Trezor secure offline), custodial (Coinbase CEX holds keys, 'not your keys not your coins'). Rule: small hot, large cold.

A crypto wallet doesn't store the coins themselves, as those always live on the blockchain. It holds the private keys that give you control over your address. Hot wallet (online, e.g. MetaMask) is convenient but hackable. Cold wallet (Ledger, Trezor) is offline and safe. Rule: small amounts hot, large cold.
