Whale Activity

Movements of large wallets (>1000 BTC, >10k ETH) are market signals.

Whales: large concentration wallets (top 100, institutions, OTC). Moves are signals: Whale→CEX = potential sell (bearish), CEX→Whale cold = accumulation (bullish), Whale→Whale OTC = neutral. Bitquery V1+V2 tracks them. Whale Alert (Twitter @whale_alert) real-time TX >$1M.

In plain words

Whales are wallets with very large balances (>1000 BTC, >10k ETH), including institutions, OTC desks, and the biggest individuals. Their moves are a strong signal: pulling BTC off exchanges suggests accumulating before a pump, while depositing to exchanges implies preparing to sell. Bitquery tracks these in real time.

Example

Oct 2024: 8 whales withdrew 18,000 BTC from exchanges in one week. Price +25% in month (accumulation pre-pump). May 2021 (top): 12 whales deposited 50,000 BTC. Price -30% in 2 weeks (distribution).
