Developer Activity
What it shows
Developer activity measures real work on the project: commits, updates and developer engagement in the code repositories.
How to read it
Dev activity is a fundamental, not a price, indicator, which shows a project's durability over the long horizon. A decline despite a rising price has historically warned of weakening fundamentals.
Parameters
- Dev activity level
- Steady or rising work on the code signals a living project; a decline indicates a neglect risk.
- Positive reading: Rising or steadily high: a healthy, actively developed project.
- Negative reading: Clearly falling or near zero: a risk the project is being abandoned.
- Neutral reading: Steady at a moderate level: the project maintained without sharp changes.
Example
108 commits in 4 weeks with rising GitHub stars indicates a live team and real development, historically a foundation of project health through bear markets. Activity dropping to zero is a red flag of abandonment; steady, moderate work is neutral continuation.
