Long/short ratio chart

What it shows

The Long/Short ratio history (pink line, left axis) for the selected coin over a 4 h–7 d window, optionally overlaid with price (blue dashed line, right axis). The gold dashed line marks 1.0: long/short balance.

How to read it

Start with the pink line's position versus the gold 1.0 line: above = long-skewed, below = short-skewed. Then judge the direction (is positioning building?) and compare it with price. Both lines moving together confirms the mood; divergence is a warning. Historical sentiment context, not a trade signal.

Parameters

Ratio vs Price
Compare the direction of the two lines: price falling while Ratio rises = the crowd is buying the dip with longs; price rising while Ratio falls = the crowd is fading the rally.
Positive reading: A Ratio oscillating near 1.0 with calm price action: a balanced market without extreme emotions.
Negative reading: The Ratio runs to an extreme (e.g. >1.5 or <0.7) while price moves the other way, which means a one-sided crowd is fighting the tape. Historically such divergence ended in a squeeze more often than a crowd win.
Neutral reading: The Ratio scale (left axis) is narrow: a small change can look like a big line move. Always check the axis range.
Time window and zoom
The 4h/12h/24h/7d buttons change the history window; the magnifier opens fullscreen and 1–6x stretches the chart horizontally (swipe to scroll) to see short-lived moves.

Example

BTC slides from 65k to 64.3k while the Ratio climbs from 1.36 to 1.50, meaning the crowd adds longs against the drop. Historically such divergence fuelled further downside (long liquidations) before the market balanced out. Context for caution, not a forecast.
