Macro assets chart
What it shows
An interactive comparison chart of eight macro assets: BTC, gold, the S&P 500, Nasdaq, CD20, DXY, VIX and US10Y. In '% change' mode all lines start from zero, so you can see who's rising and who's lagging relative to each other. In 'Price' mode you track the raw price of a selected asset. The range is set to 7d, 30d, 90d or 1 year.
How to read it
Start with '% change' mode and a single time window: that's the fastest way to see who leads. Then look for divergence: a healthy crypto move up usually comes with a falling DXY and VIX, whereas a BTC rise alongside a strengthening dollar and a volatility spike is more weakly confirmed. Toggle individual lines in the legend to filter out noise. Practical takeaway: treat agreement among risk-on signals as trend confirmation, and a split between BTC and risk-off assets as a reason for more caution.
Parameters
- '% change' mode
- Normalizes all assets to percentage change from the period start: ideal for comparing strength.
- Neutral reading: Use it to see which asset leads and which lags within the same time window.
- 'Price' mode
- Shows the raw price of a single selected asset in the chosen currency, with O/H/L levels.
- Neutral reading: Useful when you want to analyze specific price levels of one market.
- Time Range
- A window toggle: 7d, 30d, 90d or 1 year.
- Neutral reading: Short windows show current momentum, longer ones the broader trend and market structure.
- Asset Divergence
- How the lines line up against each other: whether risk-on and risk-off assets agree on direction.
- Positive reading: BTC rises while DXY and VIX fall, which means a coherent risk-on setup confirming crypto strength.
- Negative reading: BTC rises but DXY and VIX rise too, meaning a move unconfirmed by macro and a fragile basis.
- Neutral reading: Lines move flat and in parallel: no clear leader or signal.
Example
'% change' mode, 30d window: BTC +12%, Nasdaq +6%, DXY -3%, VIX -20%. All lines form a coherent risk-on picture in which the crypto rise is confirmed by macro. If BTC were rising while DXY and VIX climbed with it, the move would be far less reliable.
