Market Liquidity
What it shows
Two independent measures of market "dry powder". The first is total stablecoin market cap with its 7- and 30-day change: a growing supply means more cash sitting ready on the market. The second is the exchange flow balance over the same windows: positive means coins net FLOWED INTO exchanges, negative means they FLOWED OUT. Each measure is computed and reported separately; when one lacks coverage the widget says so plainly instead of showing a zero.
How to read it
Read the two measures separately, and both as descriptions of the past. Stablecoin supply says how much cash sits on the market, not when anyone will use it. The flow balance says where coins moved; always check the coin and day count beside it, because with a narrow sample one large transfer can tilt the result. When you see "no coverage" it means exactly that we have no data; do not read it as a zero. This is not investment advice.
Parameters
- Stablecoin supply
- The summed market cap of every coin in our "stablecoin" category, taken once per day with one reading per coin. Next to it we show how many coins entered the sum: a different coin count means a different measurement scope.
- Positive reading: A growing supply historically means more cash available on the market.
- Negative reading: A shrinking supply is cash leaving the crypto market.
- Exchange flow balance
- The sum of on-chain flows into and out of exchanges, converted to dollars at the coin's daily price. We take one reading per coin per day, and each reading covers a few hours of transfers: it indicates direction, not a full daily total. The sign matters: a positive value is an inflow INTO exchanges (more sellable supply), a negative one is an outflow OUT of exchanges (coins moving off-venue).
- Sample coverage
- How many coins and how many days went into the balance. We have on-chain flows for a narrow set of coins, so the balance is a slice of the market, not the whole of it. This is why we always show this number next to the result. Too short a history means no number, not a zero.
- Per-coin breakdown
- The 30-day balance per coin along with the number of days it was computed from. A coin with two days of data says less than a coin with twenty.
Example
Stablecoin supply at $297B, +1.8% over 7 days, while the 7-day flow balance sits at minus $40M from three coins and seven days of data. Read it like this: cash on the market grew, and within the narrow set of coins with on-chain coverage more left exchanges than arrived. Three coins is a slice, so do not stretch that conclusion across the whole market.
