Social Volume
What it shows
Social volume measures how often a coin is talked about online: the number of mentions, posts and discussions on social media.
How to read it
Social volume is a measure of crowd emotion: extreme noise has historically coincided with local tops, and silence after a sell-off, with bottoms. Read it contrarian and together with price.
Parameters
- Social mentions count
- Rising chatter can precede a price move; extreme noise often accompanies euphoria.
- Positive reading: Rising interest from a low base: historically an early narrative-building phase.
- Negative reading: An extreme spike in mentions: historically crowd euphoria and local-top risk.
- Neutral reading: A stable level of chatter: no extremes in interest.
Example
Social volume jumps from 800 to 1651 mentions on a rising price, reflecting growing, organic interest that historically confirmed the move. A sudden spike without on-chain backing has marked emotional tops; a flat line means no market attention.
