Whale activity
What it shows
Whale (large-wallet) activity for the project: the daily count of large transactions plus individual moves with direction (inflow, outflow, transfer) and USD value. Shows whether big players are increasing or reducing exposure.
How to read it
Combine count and trend with the direction of individual moves: rising activity dominated by exchange outflows paints a different picture than rising activity with large exchange inflows. Spike badges show when something unusual is happening. Action: use this data as context on big-player behavior, not as a standalone basis for decisions.
Parameters
- Whale transaction count (day)
- How many large transactions were recorded on a given day: a measure of big-wallet activity.
- Positive reading: Steadily elevated: big players are engaged and present in the market.
- Neutral reading: Low and calm: whales are passive, few large moves.
- Trend vs previous day
- Percentage change in whale transaction count versus the previous reading.
- Positive reading: A clear rise: interest from large wallets is building.
- Negative reading: A sharp drop, big players are pulling back from activity.
- Spike / Quiet badges
- Mark days with activity far above (spike) or below (quiet) the average.
- Neutral reading: A spike signals unusual whale movement, which is worth checking the market context.
- Individual transactions (direction & USD)
- Specific moves: inflow, outflow or transfer, with the dollar value and chain.
- Positive reading: Exchange outflows (out): coins move to wallets, historically less supply pressure.
- Negative reading: Large exchange inflows (in), which is historically a precursor to increased selling pressure.
Example
Whale transaction count rises 40% (spike) and individual moves are mostly multi-million USD exchange outflows, historically a picture of accumulation by large wallets. The opposite setup (exchange inflows) signals building supply pressure.
